The goal of the Salt Lake City Police Student Art Contest is to engage high school students in a conversation about the dangers of drugs. Police officers educate students and then ask them to develop the department's anti-drug message for the next year. Winners receive prizes and scholarships. Over the last seven years, the program has provided $35,000 in scholarship money. Approximately 150 students enter this contest each year, and thousands of people see the messages online, on billboards, buses, and in community gathering places like the public library. Without the Police Foundation's support, the program would likely not continue.
